Why Neev?
Neev offers a unique educational experience that blends the best of Montessori principles with a home-based environment. There are several benefits to choosing Neev:
A comfortable home-based environment
Learning in a home environment creates a sense of security and belonging for children. We also have our kitchen readily accessible, which serves as an extension of the classroom. Children are introduced to food preparation through measuring ingredients, mixing, and kneading. This builds their math, vocabulary, motor skills, and independence.
Connection to nature
Our classroom gets lots of light and is surrounded by nature. We have a fruits and vegetable garden as well as a large playground. Children regularly go outside to play and grow their own produce. This enhances their understanding of science, ecology, and the world around them.
A small-group cohort
We maintain a cohort of up to 5 children, which allows for individualized learning, where each child progresses at their own pace while developing essential life skills. Children’s individual needs and interests are nurtured, making it easier for them to actively participate in the learning process. Children form closer social connections among peers, allowing for meaningful collaboration and social-emotional development.
Parent education
Neev parents are empowered to incorporate Montessori principles at home through 1:1 parent education sessions. The sessions equip parents with strategies to create a Montessori-aligned environment at home. This ensures that the child’s learning journey is seamless, allowing parents to support their child’s growth and independence in daily routines.

Our Story
Shalini Varma has been teaching in Montessori classrooms for the past 11 years. She was first drawn to the Montessori method of education while raising her two Montessori children. She was so fascinated by this method that she decided to undergo training and was awarded credentials for early childhood from the Princeton Center of Teacher Education.
Shalini is now the founder of home-based school Neev Montessori in Edison. She strongly believes that, given the right environment, every child can flourish to their fullest potential. Shalini also holds a postgraduate degree in business management.
